Men and mosquitoes!

I am neither a misanthropist nor a misandrist!

By telling men, I am referring to the human community as a whole!

But why mosquitoes?

This winged insect has a great part in literature…for example, it was A.G. Gardiner’s companion in “A Fellow Traveller” and even in many other folklores! In real life, they are not as interesting as they are described by Gardiner!

From time immemorial, man has been fighting with mosquitoes. These small insects have been a great threat to humans. The weapons used by human beings have evolved over time- from neem leaves to “all out” at present!

The different mosquito repellents in our country

But the mosquitoes too seem to have built resistance over time! Like Renguski from the movie Enthiran they are growing immune to everything now. No machines or ointments can stop stop the sharp needle prick of the mosquitoes!

But, what is the relationship between men and mosquitoes here?

Like mosquitoes, human beings too seem to have grown resistant to various things. In the olden times, the movie “Vennira Aadai” was given an “A” certificate because it spoke about widows. But, now, the movies with “A” certificates are not suitable, even for adults!

Earlier, unparliamentary words were never used in the movies, even by the antagonists. Now, all bad habits seem to be the very traits of the protagonist!!! Songs filled with abusive language have become party anthems!

Man has indeed grown resistant to all these things over the ages, like mosquitoes!

And, that was not a compliment!

This same mind set is reflected everywhere- inside and outside family. People are in need of a so-called “sensation” in order to become interested in something. A normal eve teasing does not seem to stir any interest…only a murder, that too a brutal one only seems to capture the attention!

Does this make you proud? Let’s ask ourselves if we ourselves are in search of such news articles.

Let’s stop being so insensitive to the sufferings of others. If it is not possible to sympathize, let us at least empathize!

Have a great simple and happy week ahead!
